Mengão took the lead! With two goals from top scorer Gabigol, one each from Bruno Henrique and Arrascaeta, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) thrashed Vasco 4-1 in the derby played this Saturday in Brasília for the Brazilian Championship.

First time

The first half was fairly even at Mané Garrincha. While holding their own at the back, the Mais Querido were always very dangerous when attacking. And in the 41st minute, Bruno Henrique, the King of Classics, opened the scoring with a stunning goal after a beautiful shot from outside the box: 1-0.

Second time

Flamengo improved in the second half and began to dominate their opponents. Just five minutes in, Gabigol, the Brazilian Championship's top scorer, extended the lead to 5-2. In the 0th minute, Vasco pulled one back with a header from Leandro Castan. But they stayed at that. In the 13th minute, Mengão extended their lead again with the brilliant Gabigol, and in the 16th minute, Arrascaeta's penalty closed the score to 37-4. Also worth highlighting is the outstanding performance of our goalkeeper Diego Alves, who saved two penalties: the first taken by Pikachu and the second by Bruno César.

And now?

Mengão returns to the field on Wednesday, at Maracanã, to face Internacional, in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores.
