In the language of amateur footballers, training is a game, and a game is war. Even more so away from home. At Flamengo, the spirit is the same on the eve of the duel against Caracas, for the second round of the group stage of the Copa Santander Libertadores. The Flamengo delegation departs on Tuesday morning (March 09.03th) for Venezuela, where they will face the home team on Wednesday (March 10.03th) at 22 pm (Brasilia time).

Since last week, the only topic of conversation at Gávea has been the marathon of crucial matches for the Flamengo team in the coming days. In two weeks, the team will have two state championship derbies (against Vasco and Botafogo), and two matches in the Copa Libertadores (against Caracas and Universidad de Chile). Captain Bruno, however, assures that the team is ready.

"This team is ready. We've prepared for this marathon and, with the help of the coaching staff and the medical department, we'll be prepared. We have to play calmly in Venezuela, get at least one point, and then think about Vasco," he stated.

Defender Álvaro agrees. According to him, the team needs to take the field with the spirit of a Libertadores Cup team and repeat the good football they showed last Saturday against Resende in the Taça Rio.

"The group is united and will give its all to achieve this victory at any cost. That's how it was on Saturday and that's how it will be in the Libertadores. We have to go in with a lot of determination to get points," he explained.

Flamengo and Caracas have never faced each other before. After the first round, Flamengo has three points and leads Group 8, while the Venezuelan team has yet to score a point in the competition.
