Spectacular victory! Flamengo took to the field on Sunday afternoon (13) and beat Athletico-PR 2-0 in a match valid for the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship. Both goals for the Mais Querido were scored by Bruno Henrique. With the result, Mengão broke the 45-year streak of not winning at Arena da Baixada in Brasileiros.

The game
Flamengo started the match by tightly marking their opponents' ball out, with the opponent misplacing a few passes and allowing Mengão to create a dangerous attack. In the 44th minute, the pressure paid off, and Mengão opened the scoring. Goalkeeper Leo made a poor pass and handed the ball to Bruno Henrique. The striker controlled the ball and slotted it into the back of the net: 1-0. With greater possession and exploiting Athletico's mistakes, Flamengo ended the first half with the lead.

In the second half, the game remained fairly even, although Athletico improved its attacking play and missed a few opportunities. But Mengão, who had the majority of possession, maintained control. In the 45th minute, the Mais Querido extended their lead. From a quick throw-in by Everton Ribeiro, Renê crossed into the box for Bruno Henrique to deflect into the back of the net and seal the victory: 2-0. A historic victory that broke the 45-year streak of a winless streak at the Arena da Baixada in the Brazilian Championship.
