Mengão won again. With a strong performance and a spectacle from the nation in the Maracanã stands, the "Most Beloved" defeated Atlético-MG 3-1 in the Brazilian Championship this Thursday night. The goals for the red-and-black team were scored by Willian Arão, Vitinho, and Reinier.

The game

Dominating the game from the start, Flamengo created numerous scoring opportunities in the first half, but only opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a header from Willian Arão. Vitinho took a corner, and the midfielder got there first to score: 1-0.

In the second half, Mengão maintained their momentum. Despite an early scare (Nathan's goal for Atlético-MG), they continued to dominate the match and soon took the lead again. Vitinho cut in from the left and scored a stunning goal in the 15th minute: 2-1. In the 30th minute, Reinier sealed the victory after a Vitinho header: 3-1 and a national celebration.

And now?

Mengão returns to the field on Sunday to face Athletico-PR, at Arena da Baixada, for the Brazilian Championship.
