In a delayed game of the 30th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo beat RB Bragantino 1-0 on Thursday night (23), at Maracanã. Arrascaeta, in the second half, scored the goal for Mengão, who now took third place with 60 points. With the triumph, Rubro-Negro entered the fight for the national title.
The game
The match began with a fierce battle for possession. In the first red-and-black attack, Arrascaeta set up a pass on the left for Cebolinha, who attempted a cross into the box, but the defense cleared it for a corner. Five minutes in, Rossi made a good save after a deflection from Juninho Capixaba.
The red-and-black team tried to play through passing, but Bragantino pushed forward and made things difficult. When they did attack, the São Paulo team threatened Rossi's goal. In the 26th minute, Luiz Araújo linked up with Matheuzinho on the right and crossed into the box. Cebolinha headed the ball over the goal.
Ten minutes later, Gerson set up Matheuzinho, who fired a powerful shot into the top corner, but Léo Ortiz managed to clear it almost on the line. Cebolinha then played a one-two with Matheuzinho and took a shot. The goalkeeper palmed it away, and Léo Ortiz cleared it for a corner. Arrascaeta took the corner kick, and Cebolinha deflected it at the near post, forcing Cleiton to make a great save. The first half ended goalless.
After the break, coach Tite made two changes. Matheuzinho and Luiz Araújo were replaced by Wesley and Erick, respectively. Five minutes in, Cebolinha made a good run down the left and crossed into the box for Léo Pereira to send in a bicycle kick. It was almost a great goal!
In the 29th minute, Mengão opened the scoring to the delight of the nation! Arrascaeta exchanged passes with Erick, cleared the play, and finished with the tip of his boot to make it 1-0. Mengão almost added a second shortly after. Bruno Henrique received the ball from Pedro on the right and crossed it, but Cleiton saved.
In the final minutes, Thiago Borbas received a red card for a challenge, leaving Bragantino ten men down. With that, Mengão controlled the result in stoppage time and left Maracanã more alive than ever in the fight for the Brazilian title!
