In the 14th round of the Brasileirão, Mengão beat Sport 3-0 on Wednesday night (07), at Maracanã, and achieved their second consecutive victory in the competition. The Rubro-Negro's goals were scored by Pedro (twice) and Gustavo Henrique in the second half.

The game
Flamengo started the match valuing possession, using quick passes to try to open up space in Sport's defense. The Pernambuco team, in turn, closed up and tried to exploit counterattacks to surprise the Red-Blacks. In the 22nd minute, Sport created a threat. After a free kick in the box, Marcão headed the ball just wide of Hugo Souza's post.

In the 27th minute, Flamengo nearly opened the scoring with Pedro. Isla delivered a perfect cross to the center forward, who headed the ball powerfully, but Luan Polli made a good save. In the 41st minute, during a back-and-forth in the Flamengo box, the ball fell to Patric, who shot wide. Late in the first half, Gerson arrived well on the left, cut inside, and fired a cross-shot. The goalkeeper came out and made the save.

Early in the second half, Flamengo opened the scoring! Diego passed to Isla on the right, the full-back took the ball to the byline and crossed to Bruno Henrique, who chested it down for top scorer Pedro to fire the bomb into the back of the net: 1-0. Then, in the 9th minute, Flamengo extended their lead with Gustavo Henrique! Diego took a corner kick inside the box and the defender rose between the defenders to score the second for Flamengo: 2-0.

Mengão wanted more, and in the 14th minute, they scored their third goal, again through Pedro! The striker received the ball in the six-yard box, controlled it with his chest, and shot, falling to the ground. The ball went past Luan Polli and went in: 3-0. After a good lead, Flamengo continued to create good opportunities on the wings and could have added another, but the 3-0 was a good result.

And now?
Mengão returns to the field next Saturday (10) to play the Rio derby against Vasco, at 17 pm (Brasília time), in São Januário. The match is valid for the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship.
