In the Rio classic of the 11th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo beat Fluminense 1-0, on Sunday afternoon (23), at Maracanã, and remained in the isolated lead of the competition with 24 points. Pedro, from a penalty, scored the goal that gave Mengão the victory.

The game
The derby began with a fierce battle for possession. When Flamengo tried to attack, Fluminense often stopped the play with fouls. The red-and-black team pressed high to pressure their opponents' possession. In the 16th minute, Wesley was released on the right, entered the box, but sent the ball over the goal.

On the next play, the Mais Querido managed to steal the ball in attack, Gerson left Pedro free, but the striker shot straight at Fábio. On the rebound, Bruno Henrique ended up getting tangled up with the ball. In the 21st minute, after another error by the Tricolor's clearance, Pedro passed to Lorran, who was free, but the midfielder mishandled the ball and missed a great chance.

Flamengo's pressure-based marking was working. In the 28th minute, Lorran got the ball and passed it to Gerson, who shot hard wide. Another great opportunity wasted by the Flamengo attack.

In stoppage time, Léo Ortiz passed to Pedro, who passed to Lorran, who ran in unmarked. He shot into the corner, and Fábio cleared it for a corner. The first half was lively, but the score remained unchanged.

In the first minute of the second half, Rubro-Negro nearly opened the scoring. Lorran broke through the middle and passed to Luiz Araújo, who caught it first time, and the ball went dangerously into Fábio's right corner. Seven minutes in, another good chance was created. Bruno Henrique won the ball on the byline, found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and fired over.

Around the 20th minute, Lorran was replaced by Allan. This allowed Gerson to play more freely, dropping more to the wings. In the 36th minute, Bruno Henrique received a pass, beat Calegari, and was brought down in the box. The referee awarded the penalty. Pedro stepped up to take the penalty and scored the winning goal for the Red-Black Nation at the Maracanã!

With the result, Mengão remains the sole leader of the Brasileirão with 24 points.
