Adriano's lower back pain, while keeping the Emperor out of the Taça Rio semifinal and the Libertadores match against Universidad Católica, gave Bruno Mezenga new opportunities to shine. He performed well against Vasco last Sunday and hopes to repeat the feat next Wednesday.

Despite his young age, Bruno is calm and aware of the responsibility of replacing the Emperor and achieving a good result in the match against the Chileans. For Mezenga, the victory over their rivals last weekend is an added motivation for the Rubro-Negro.

"The team did very well in the game against Vasco, and I'm happy to have helped. It was a very important victory and it gives us even more desire to win Wednesday's game, because it's a crucial match for the team in the Libertadores. The responsibility is huge, and I hope to help the team once again," he said.

While his first professional goal at Maracanã didn't come in the derby against Vasco, his assist for Vagner Love was a great one. The number 37 hopes his chemistry with the Love Gunner continues this way against Católica.

"We're doing well. Our chemistry is good, and I was very happy to make the pass to him against Vasco. We always talk when we have time, on the field, to get our positioning right. I hope it works out again on Wednesday," he explained.

Despite being happy with the chances he has been getting, Bruno guarantees that he is rooting for Emperor Hadrian's speedy recovery.

"Of course, I'm very happy that Andrade is giving me these opportunities, and I hope to live up to them, God willing. But we're all rooting for Adriano, so that he recovers as quickly as possible," he concluded.
