Michael says he will fight for position

Supporter returned to play against Vasco and hopes for a sequence of chances at Flamengo

Serbian Petkovic has already stated that he may need another midfielder during the season to help him create plays for Flamengo. And the solution may already be within the Flamengo squad. It's midfielder Michael, who returned to action after nearly two months out of official matches due to a thigh injury. Last Sunday (August 01.08st), Rogério Lourenço introduced the number 80 in the second half and, next weekend, he's expected to include him in the squad for the match against Corinthians.

"I'm happy to be back after almost two months without playing an official match. Of course, I would have liked to have left Maracanã with a victory, but I was pleased to be back and I hope to be included in the squad for Sunday's match against Corinthians," he said.

Playing at Pacaembu against Alvinegro paulista is nothing new for Michael, who stood out wearing the Palmeiras shirt in 2007. The midfielder, in fact, has a good record in matches against next Sunday's opponent (08.08).

"My record against Corinthians is good. I played a few times for Palmeiras and I believe I always did better. If I'm not mistaken, there were four games, two wins and two draws," said the player, whose goal is to have a run of games like at the beginning of the season.

"My goal is to get a sequence of games, like I did at the beginning of the year, when I played matches in the State Championship and the Libertadores. But I know that Flamengo's group is strong, it's balanced and I'll fight for my position, respecting my teammates and only thinking about helping the team," he added.
