The defeat to Atlético Mineiro this Saturday (13/11) in Sete Lagoas didn't discourage Flamengo's players. Of course, the result didn't please anyone, but the group is confident they can leave the bottom of the table behind. Next weekend, the team from Gávea will face Guarani at Engenhão, and they know that a positive result against the team from Campinas, another direct rival in the fight against the bottom spots, could already guarantee Flamengo's permanence in Série A.
Defender Ronaldo Angelim believes that Flamengo's team ended up suffering from Atlético Mineiro's quick counterattacks, whose main characteristic is the speed of its attackers.
"We started the game well, but they scored first and started playing on the counter-attack, as they like, they scored the second and we tried to reduce the deficit in the second half, but as we opened up a lot, they killed the game on the counter-attack again," he said.
Leo Moura, captain of the red-black team, asks the team to keep their heads up, work hard during the week and seek victory against Guarani at Engenhão, next Saturday (20.11), to continue working with the Copa Sudamericana as their objective in this Brasileirão 2010.
"It's not over here. We have a home game now, we have to score and continue our path in the Brazilian Championship. We knew the game would be difficult, now we have to lift our heads. Sunday is another battle. We gave a lot of space, and after you concede two goals it's difficult to turn it around. You end up very exposed. But now we'll work hard during the week, thinking about Guarani, because it's going to be a difficult and important game for us," he concluded.
