Coach Rogério Lourenço knows Flamengo won't have an easy match against Ceará this Saturday (August 14.08) at Maracanã Stadium. Even so, the coach is confident of a Flamengo victory, especially given the motivation he's seen from his players this week. He urges the fans to understand this and support the team throughout the match.
"We're working hard, the players are eager, we've already fixed the defense and we're going after victories. I'm confident, I hope the fans show up and support the team, because the players are incredibly motivated," he said.
Aware that the team is not on a good run of results, he highlights the difficulty of Flamengo's recent matches and promises the Rubro-Negro will fight for good things in the competition.
"It's clear that the streak isn't good. After all, we're not winning, but we lost to the best team in Brazil (Inter), away from home, we drew a derby against Vasco, and we lost away to the second-place team in the table. These are results that can even be considered normal. And despite that, we're in the fight, just four points behind Ceará, who is in third place," said the coach, who believes that the fans will be, as usual, Flamengo's 12th player.
"The fans are a barometer of the team and have always been Flamengo's 12th player. Few fans in the world are like ours, which really makes a difference. I discussed this with the players and they know they need to work hard on the field to have the fans' support," he added.
