Muricy laments late set-piece goal.

The coach claims there was a lack of focus on the play, but exonerates the defensive duo: "Until that moment, Juan and Wallace won every ball."

After the 1-0 defeat to Vasco on Sunday (14), in São Januário, coach Muricy Ramalho spoke to journalists at the stadium. The coach lamented the lack of attention in the goal conceded from a set piece in the last minute of the game, but recalled that until then, the defensive sector had been working well in the match. The coach also stated that he expects more from the team, which lost an official game under his command for the first time: "We didn't play like other times, the ball possession wasn't good, we have to improve that. I saw many players far from each other, but the beginning of the season is like that," he concluded.

Check out the main excerpts from the interview:

Analysis
I expected a little more from Flamengo, especially in the second half. Vasco got it right, we conceded a goal, which was a well-executed play, a ball in the box. We lacked a bit of focus. But that's normal for our team at the start of the season.

Goal from a set piece
Up until that point, Juan and Wallace had won every ball. The defensive line wasn't well-formed, but that's part of football; fatigue can happen during a match, but we have to correct it. We hadn't conceded a goal yet (in that way), it was very well-trained, including against Atlético-MG, which is a team that heads the ball a lot, that heads the ball a lot. Last ball of the game, tired players, it's impossible to analyze. Up until that point, they were heading the ball well and positioning themselves well, both Wallace and Juan.

Heat
We really felt the heat in the second half. We couldn't hold onto the ball, the game even became boring and slow, it was heading towards a goalless draw.

Play creation
The transition wasn't good, we didn't get the ball under control, Arão, everyone who goes on the attack, which is characteristic of our team, who needs to infiltrate... We did very little of that. We should have done more than we did today, much more. We fell short, we didn't play like we have other times, our ball possession wasn't good, we have to improve that. I saw many players far from each other, but that's how it is at the beginning of the season.

Errors
Possession wasn't good, the midfielders didn't move forward much, they didn't get close to the attacking players much, and the players got forward too often, but that can definitely be corrected.
