Muricy Ramalho is no longer Flamengo's coach. Due to health issues, the coach and the Flamengo board reached an amicable termination, allowing the coach to focus on his recovery and the club to continue competing in the Brazilian Championship.
The announcement was made at a press conference at CT George Helal this Thursday (26). First to speak, president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello began the interview by announcing the coach's departure.
"Muricy Ramalho's decision is not to remain at Flamengo at this time, due to the uncertainty surrounding his health," he summarized.
Next, vice-president of football Flavio Godinho spoke to journalists and announced that Zé Ricardo, coach of the under-20 team, will take over the team on an interim basis.
"For Sunday's game, Zé Ricardo, the U-20 coach, takes over. He's a homegrown coach, and Flamengo has always been there for him in situations like this. Jayme was in charge on an interim basis as a member of Muricy's coaching staff. Right now, it's important to support him and focus on Sunday's game," he concluded.
The red-and-black team's next match will be on Sunday, against Ponte Preta, at 11 a.m., in Campinas. The match will be part of the fourth round of the 4 Brasileirão.
