Guerrero debuts with a goal and a victory in the Copa América Centenario

The red-black striker took over the historic top scorer record for the Peruvian national team

Peru made its Copa América Centenario debut last Saturday (04) against Haiti. The game ended 1-0 and Paolo Guerrero scored the winning goal. The number 9 of the Mais Querido reached the mark of 27 goals scored, surpassing Teófilo Cubillas and becoming the greatest scorer in the history of the Peruvian national team. The center forward needed 70 matches to reach this mark, compared to 81 games of his predecessor.

Century Link Field in Seattle hosted the match. The decisive play came 15 minutes into the second half. Guerrero finished off Édison Flores' cross with a beautiful diving header, sending the ball into the back of the net. The "Depredator" was the top scorer in the last two editions of the competition.
