In the Under-23 Cup, Flamengo loses to Vasco on penalties.

After drawing 2-2 with rival Vasco at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium, coach Renato Trindade's team ended up being defeated in the penalty shootout. In regulation time, Flamengo's goals were scored by Cristian Borja and Saba. In the penalties, Vander, Antônio, Borja, João Vitor, and Jorbison converted their shots, Paulo Victor saved Vinícius's attempt, but Frauches and Henrique missed, and Vasco won 6-5.
\With this result, Flamengo adds another point to their tally, now totaling six and occupying third place in their group in the U-23 Cup. In the next round, the Rubro-Negro will face Avaí in Santa Catarina, in a preliminary match before the Brasileirão game between the two teams, needing a win to keep their qualification hopes alive. From the opening kickoff, Flamengo dominated Vasco. With more possession and being more incisive in attack, the red-and-black team didn't take long to open the scoring. Just nine minutes in, right-back Alex, in an individual play reminiscent of Leo Moura, got past the defender and crossed low for Cristian Borja to score. It was the Colombian's third goal in four games in the competition.
The partial advantage energized the Flamengo team, who continued to control the match. Special mention goes to full-back Uendel, who, despite making his debut in the red-and-black shirt, performed very well, both in passing and dribbling. Despite this, it was Vasco who scored, in the 19th minute, with a beautiful shot from outside the area by Diego.
The goal didn't diminish Flamengo's momentum, and midfielder Willian Amendoim came very close to scoring in the 27th and 28th minutes. And after two near misses, he didn't miss the third. In the 43rd minute, he dribbled past the opposing defender and was brought down in the area: penalty. Saba took the penalty with skill, finding the top corner to put Flamengo back in front: 2-1.

Flamengo continued to dominate in the second half. Colombian Cristian Borja almost extended the lead in the third and sixteenth minutes with good individual plays. But it was Vasco who scored. In the 27th minute, Jeferson Silva received a cross, controlled the ball, and shot powerfully past Paulo Victor. Again, the goal didn't discourage Flamengo, who continued to search for more goals.
At 31 minutes, Antônio shot from outside the area and almost broke the tie. At 43 minutes, João Vitor, with a powerful shot from outside the area, hit the crossbar. The pressure, however, had no effect and the score remained tied, taking the game to penalties. In the penalties, Vander, Antônio, Borja, João Vitor and Jorbison converted, Paulo Victor saved Vinícius's shot, but Frauches and Henrique missed and Vasco won 6-5.
