In the afternoon, Flamengo will hold a technical training session at Ninho.
After the training session, the team heads to a hotel in Barra, where they will concentrate for Sunday's derby.
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inThe first day of training for the derby against Vasco on Sunday at Engenhão was intense at Ninho do Urubu. After a morning of physical work, the Flamengo players went to a hotel in Barra da Tijuca, had lunch, and returned to the Training Center in Vargem Grande to complete the first day of full-time activities this week.
\In the afternoon, the players did technical work led by coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo and assistant coach Antônio Lopes Junior. The group was divided into four teams, with two teams facing each other on each half of the field. Each player was only allowed one touch of the ball. The idea of the exercise was to test movement, speed, and encourage careful ball possession among the players.
\After this first part, Luxa further divided the squad into two teams of 13 players each, and these teams played a kind of practice match. After training, the players returned to the hotel, where they remained focused for the weekend's match. An idea that was approved by the athletes.
\"Vanderlei always liked doing that. It's good for you to eat well, rest, not have to run after the kids, and not have to stay home to go to the mall for a walk with your wife... (laughs). It ends up being a beneficial measure and for the good of the club," said striker Deivid, whose opinion was endorsed by Willians.
\"We've already had two days off, there's absolutely no problem concentrating now. We're taking it well and this can help us a lot," he added.
\On Wednesday, the team returns to full-day training at Ninho do Urubu. On Thursday and Friday, activities will be in the afternoon, while on Saturday the players will only train in the morning.
