Flamengo's under-13 team secured a place in the semi-finals of the Rio de Janeiro Futsal Championship and follows the same path taken by the under-11 team, which had a great campaign in the championship and continues training hard for the final on the 16th.
The competition for a spot in the next round of the U-13 competition was fierce. Flamengo had to work hard to stay in the running for the Rio de Janeiro championship title.
The red-and-black team, led by coach Renato Leal, reached the semifinals after defeating the Casa de Espanha team. Both matches were thrilling and fiercely contested. Away from home (4/8), the Gávea boys ran the entire game and used quick movement and precision passing as tactical weapons. The Casa de Espanha team didn't let up, making the game difficult for the red-and-blacks. Even under heavy marking, Flamengo played with great pace and knew how to impose itself on the court, securing a 5-3 victory in regulation time.
In the return match, held in Gávea on the 7th, the under-13 team achieved another success, securing a spot in the next round of the Campeonato Carioca. Flamengo opened the scoring and finished the first half with a three-goal lead. In the second period, coach Renato Leal's team maintained its attacking stance and scored two more goals. Late in the match, two defensive lapses in the Flamengo defense allowed the opposing team to score the only two goals. The match ended in a 5-2 victory for the Flamengo team.
