Win or win. That was the mission, and Flamengo accomplished it. And with gusto. After a below-average first half, the team changed its approach and thrashed Bahia 4-1 at Ilha do Urubu, climbing to sixth place with 46 points. The next match will be against São Paulo at Pacaembu on Sunday at 17 pm. The goals were scored by Réver and Diego, all in the second half, with Mendoza scoring for Bahia.
The game had two distinct halves. The first was at a slow pace, with few opportunities for either side. Diego Alves was called into action on two occasions, but neither Flamengo nor Bahia deserved to take the lead. In the second half, however, Flamengo came out with more determination to win and scored early on, forcing Bahia to attack and changing the pace of the game.
