"I don't want to spend a year inactive at Flamengo"
Since winning the Copa do Brasil in 2006, Leo Moura has won at least one title per year.
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inUntil arriving at Gávea in early 2005, Leonardo Moura was known as a good player who couldn't establish himself at a major club. He played for Botafogo, Vasco, São Paulo, and Palmeiras, but had never won a single title. His drought ended in 2006, when the Red-Blacks defeated rivals Vasco in the Copa do Brasil final. Since then, the number 2 hasn't known what it's like to go a year without lifting a trophy. And he hopes to continue that trend in 2010.
\Best right-back in the 2007 and 2008 Brazilian Championships, Léo has won three state championships, two Guanabara Cups, a Rio Cup, and a Brazilian Championship in the last four years. In 2010, Flamengo lost to Botafogo in the Rio Cup final and was eliminated from the Copa Libertadores in the quarterfinals by Universidad de Chile. Now, all that's left is to fight for a second Brazilian championship, and if it's up to Leonardo Moura, the battle won't be in vain.
\"I've won at least one title a year here at Flamengo since 2006, and I don't want to let this one go unnoticed. A player's legacy is marked by the trophies he wins, and my goal is to help the team win this second championship. It was here that I achieved my most important victories, and I want to continue like that," he said.
\Regarding speculation about his future, the full-back assured that his desire is to remain at Gávea. He also believes the squad will be strengthened and will be fully capable of pursuing the seventh title.
\"We have a strong group. We know we need reinforcements, because the Brazilian Championship is a long and difficult championship, but we do have the ability to fight for this second title. We need to remain calm and everyone is focused on helping Flamengo reach this World Cup break with as many points as possible," he concluded.
\Leonardo Moura has already played 276 games for Flamengo, scoring 37 goals and providing 51 assists.
