Victories against Botafogo and Atlético-GO in the first two rounds of the Brazilian Championship after the World Cup have buoyed Flamengo's players. Happy with their successful return to competition, the Flamengo team believes they are on track for a strong campaign in the second half of the year.
Goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba, who played his fourth game as a starter this Sunday (18.07) and maintained a 100% success rate, with four wins and no goals conceded, believes that this is the time to gain confidence, but also to keep your feet on the ground and work with the future in mind.
"I have to thank the group. I'm happy with the victory, Flamengo is starting a new era. Now it's time to work with our minds on the next games," said the number 29.
Ronaldo Angelim agrees. According to him, the team has demonstrated great dedication, with all players working hard to defend, and this collective spirit is a major advantage in the battle for the top spots.
"The opponent pressed in the second half, playing at home, and we had to defend the result. We had to work hard to defend the three points, so the result was worth it. Borja himself helped with the marking, everyone gave their all, and that's the most important thing," he added.
With the victory over Atlético, Flamengo reached its fourth victory in nine games in this Brasileirão. The team from Gávea now has 15 points and sits fourth in the table.
