On World Nurses Day, a professional footballer from the club talks about his profession
Alex Ribeiro recalls his journey to the club and says: "Defending Flamengo is supernatural"

"I do everything and more." This is how Alex Ribeiro da Silva describes his role on the football coaching staff. At the club since March 2013, he works not only as a nurse but also in other roles, "always with the intention of helping his favorite team." Previously unimaginable, the opportunity to work at Flamengo came about through the Runco family and allowed him to literally combine business with pleasure. On World Nurses Day, Alex recalls the journey he's taken to get here.
"I worked as a nursing technician in two hospitals. I gave bed baths, administered medications, performed CT scans and MRIs on patients. I did everything. Because of my work, I had known Dr. Runco's daughter, Natalia, for a long time, who was head of physical therapy at one of the hospitals. It was through this path that the opportunity to practice my profession at Flamengo arose," he recalls.

His first contact with football was a momentous one. Coach Ricardo Gomes fell ill and was transferred to the hospital where Alex worked. After treatment, the former coach continued receiving special care at home. This role fell to the then-nursing technician, which, little did he know, would be a "rite of passage." Shortly thereafter, he was hired by Flamengo. At Mais Querido, in addition to administering medication, he is always available to help with whatever is needed to ensure the team performs well on the field. Especially since it's his favorite club.
"I never imagined working at a football club, and being at Flamengo is a supernatural thing. We have to put our feelings aside on a daily basis, we try to do our job in the best way possible. Here, everyone helps each other. Working in a place we love and at the club we support is a special experience," he celebrates.
