Flamengo and Internacional have played some great matches throughout football history. The most memorable of them, of course, was the 1987 Brazilian Championship final, when Flamengo beat Internacional 1-0 at the Maracanã, with a goal by Bebeto. But, at the Engenhão, the first time the two teams faced each other was precisely this Saturday (October 16.10th).

If this Saturday Flamengo beat Internacional 3-0, last year the team from Gávea thrashed the team from Rio Grande do Sul 4-0 at the Maracanã, in an unforgettable game during their sixth championship campaign, with a great performance by Adriano. It's worth remembering that, at the end of the championship, Flamengo were crowned champions and Internacional, the current Libertadores champions, were runners-up.

"Last year's game was very good. It's not common to achieve a victory with such a large goal difference between two balanced and great teams like Flamengo and Inter, so it was a crucial match that gave us a huge morale boost, because we were still trying to start a winning streak," recalled Ronaldo Angelim.

Now playing in their "rented home," the Engenhão, since the Maracanã is closed for renovations, Flamengo has taken an important step towards continuing their winning streak in the competition.

"Of course, Maracanã is our home, it does make a difference, but we're getting used to playing at Engenhão, the fans are showing up more and that's important," explained midfielder Correa.

In the historical rivalry, which has already included 81 matches, 45 of them in the Brazilian Championship, Inter holds a slight advantage with 29 wins, compared to Flamengo's 27 and 26 draws.
