Flamengo's youth team defeated América 5-1 this Saturday morning at Edson Passos Stadium. Flamengo remains in contention for its first-ever championship in the category.

With the result, the red-and-black team moved up to second place in Group A of the Campeonato Carioca. Flamengo reached eight points, with two wins and two draws. The team from Gávea has a game in hand, as the first-round match against Boavista was canceled.

In the next round, Flamengo faces Volta Redonda, Thursday (07/01), at 15 pm, in Gávea.
