At Morumbi, Mengão beats São Paulo 2-0 and wins the fifth consecutive Brasileirão
Lázaro and Gabi scored the goals in the red-and-black victory. Mais Querido remains in third place with 36 points.

On Saturday night (6), Flamengo beat São Paulo 2-0 at Morumbi, in a match of the 21st round of the Brasileirão. Mengão's goals were scored by Lázaro and Gabigol, who came on in the second half to give the final numbers to the match. With the result, Mengão added 36 points and secured the fifth consecutive victory in the competition.
The game
With a backup lineup on the field, Flamengo started the match pushing up the defense and pressuring São Paulo's ball out. With their first attack, Mengão opened the scoring. Ayrton Lucas crossed into the box, Victor Hugo laid it off for Lázaro, who headed it stylishly into the Tricolor goalkeeper's corner: 0-1.
Even with the advantage, Mais Querido continued to attack. In the 18th minute, Cebolinha broke through on the left wing, took on the defense, and struck a powerful shot. The ball sailed over Felipe Alves's goal. In the 34th minute, Ayrton Lucas took a shot from outside the box, but Felipe Alves palmed it away.
In the 39th minute, Cebolinha received the ball from Pablo, beat São Paulo's defense, and fired a cross-shot. The ball sailed dangerously close to the post. The first half ended with the red-and-blacks in the lead.
After the break, Flamengo continued to work well in possession of the ball in midfield. In the 12th minute, Diego delivered a beautiful through ball to Cebolinha, who crossed to Marinho. The striker tried to control the ball, but the ball escaped, and the Tricolor defense cleared it.
In the 23rd minute, a beautiful play from the red-and-black attack. Gabigol passed to Matheuzinho, who rolled the ball back. João Gomes arrived unmarked in the box but fired over the bar. Gabigol then delivered a beautiful pass to Lázaro, who burst into the box but shot straight at Felipe Alves.
In the final stretch, the game picked up pace. São Paulo went on the attack, while Rubro-Negro found more space to counterattack. In the 34th minute, Matheuzinho passed to Arrascaeta, who struck hard, but the ball went over the goal.
In stoppage time, Mengão extended their lead after a deadly counterattack. After Rodriguinho lost possession in midfield, Flamengo launched a quick counterattack. Gabigol raced down the right, carried the ball into the box, and fired a cross-shot to seal the Flamengo victory at Morumbi Stadium: 2-0.

Mais Querido returns to the field next Tuesday (9) to face Corinthians, at 21:30 pm, for the second leg of the Libertadores quarterfinals.
