Flamengo's youth team defeated Americano 2-1 this Tuesday in Campos, in a match valid for the penultimate round of the Guanabara Cup. Number 9 Diego Maurício scored both goals for Flamengo in the match. With the victory, the team from Gávea reached 30 points and maintained second place in the competition, three points behind leaders Tigres. In the final round, Flamengo needs to beat Fluminense on Sunday at Maracanã and hope for a slip-up from Tigres, who face Macaé.

It's worth remembering that the category championship is played on a round-robin basis, with all teams playing each other. The champions of each round face off in two matches to determine the 2009 Rio de Janeiro champion.
