By Flamengo Regatta Club - inClube de Regatas do Flamengo regrets having to comment on the refereeing of the Brazilian Championship. We believe that complaints from any board tarnish the image of the championship, and for this reason, we have adopted a policy of not commenting after each game, despite having witnessed several situations that, in our view, clearly harmed our team.
However, we cannot remain silent after what happened in today's match. The coincidence in time between the public pressure exerted by the directors of title contenders and what happened on the field in the game against Athletico Paranaense worries us greatly. The refereeing performance, both on the field and with the VAR, was disastrous and very detrimental to Flamengo.
We hope that episodes like these will not happen again, especially on the 23rd, when today's referee will be involved again in a very important match.
Fair, high-quality refereeing: this is what Brazilian football wants and needs.
