Official Note - São Paulo Junior Football Cup

By - in
Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that it will not participate in the 2020 São Paulo Junior Football Cup, a competition always valued by the club, holder of four titles in the tournament throughout its history.

The decision is due to the professional team's historic performance in the 2019 season, which meant the game calendar was extended until the end of December - with participation in the Club World Cup.

This will mean that professional players' holidays will only end at the end of January.

Therefore, Flamengo will have a large portion of its U-20 squad, previously registered for the São Paulo Cup, available for the first matches of the Guanabara Cup, which will begin in mid-January. Additionally, six players registered for the Copinha suffered injuries that prevent them from playing in the tournament.

Knowing this and with the caveat that it was not possible to know, within the regulatory deadline for registrations, that the club would be champion of the Copa Libertadores da América, Flamengo still tried to include new athletes in the list that had previously been sent to the São Paulo Football Federation. Unfortunately, the request was denied by the championship organizers.

Therefore, the club decided not to participate in the competition, thanking the invitation received to compete and wishing the event every success.
