Regarding the depressing episode of violence at the Mané Garrincha Stadium, in Brasília, last Sunday (05), Clube de Regatas do Flamengo clarifies that:
• As the home team, Flamengo took all precautions provided for in the Brazilian Championship regulations and in Law 10.671 (Fan Statute), with the club being responsible for hiring private security, with public bodies being responsible for estimating and directing the number of military police, civil police and firefighters for the match.
• To ensure the safety of the nearly 55 people who attended the stadium, Flamengo provided 390 private security guards, 108 of whom were assigned to the areas occupied by the clubs' organized fan groups. This number is consistent with other high-profile games.
• In a meeting held last Wednesday (01), Flamengo presented to the Federal District security forces an action plan with the provision of separation grids, isolation blocks and exclusive gates for the entry of organized fans of both clubs (gate 4 for Palmeiras' organized fans; 21 and 22 for Flamengo's organized fans).
• On Thursday (02), there was a meeting between security agencies and representatives of organized fan groups from both clubs. On the occasion, the Palmeiras representative argued that he could not be held responsible for the possible actions of members from São Paulo.
• It is important to clarify that "fans" of Mancha Verde went through the internal corridors of the stadium, knocking down fences, attacking police officers and private security guards with fire extinguishers, chairs and tables, with the aim of confronting Flamengo fans.
• When the Military Police arrived with greater force at the scene (350 police officers worked on Sunday) there was a confrontation and 21 Palmeiras fans were arrested.
• Unfortunately, everyone has been released, although one Flamengo fan is still hospitalized and in serious condition. Flamengo expects the Flamengo fan to recover soon and return to Rio de Janeiro.
• Regarding the complaint filed by the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD), Flamengo states that it will defend itself through its lawyers and believes that it did not act, contribute or fail to act in order for the harmful event, which was the sole responsibility of Palmeiras fans, to occur.
• Anyone who goes to the stadium to try to kill other fans should be treated as a criminal and held accountable for the crimes committed.
