The choice was made by the Board of Directors and the Football Department and took into account technical, infrastructure and financial criteria, considering the sporting needs for the competition and the club's projected revenue, without forgetting the fact that the huge red-black fan base makes the team feel at home anywhere.

The lack of suitable venues for football in Rio de Janeiro due to the Olympic Games forced Clube de Regatas do Flamengo to seek alternative venues for home matches in the Brazilian Championship. The early closure of Maracanã, which was initially scheduled for use by Rio de Janeiro football until June, brought forward the need to select venues for the first rounds of the competition. 

 

After careful evaluation by the Football Department, the Raulino de Oliveira Stadium in Volta Redonda will host the majority of the red-and-black matches in the competition. Locker rooms, lighting, and the pitch, including the drainage system, were among the determining factors in the selection.

 

Compared to the other options studied, the stadium also includes essential aspects for the operation of matches, especially those related to fan safety, accommodation and comfort. 

 

Aligning the technical aspects with the club's financial needs—which are based on the principle of fulfilling all its obligations—Flamengo chose to host some matches at Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasília. Modern and with a high capacity, the stadium used in the World Cup will host matches with greater appeal.

 

During the Brazilian Championship, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo does not rule out playing matches in other locations in Brazil and Rio de Janeiro if the opportunity arises and after careful evaluation by the football department of technical aspects, logistical issues, and marketing. And it hopes to be able to count on its true home, the Maracanã, for the final stretch of the competition, after the end of the period of use by the Olympic and Paralympic Committees.
