In a press conference held after training this Monday (02) at Ninho do Urubu, the executive director of football Carlos Noval was introduced. With great work carried out in charge of the youth teams of Mais Querido, Noval was seen as the ideal name to occupy the position due to the competence demonstrated in his previous role.

"I would like to thank the board for their trust. I am very honored and prepared to continue a process that we are all building together, following on from what Rodrigo started," the new director began.
Regarding the choice of coach to lead the team, Noval made it clear that this must be done cautiously. Given the current situation and upcoming competitions, such as the Brazilian Championship and the ongoing CONMEBOL Libertadores, the decision must be made with precision.

"The professional must fit Flamengo's existing philosophy, regardless of whether he's new or established in the market. We're studying this coaching profile," said the executive director, who commented on the possibility of a homegrown solution for the vacancy. "Of course, we need to remain calm at this point. Regarding Mauricio Barbieri, he's a qualified professional with the profile I like. I tried to bring him to the youth team four years ago, when he was at Audax. He's being evaluated. We can't wait too long because we need to continue working with the players. We need to have this name finalized by the weekend," he added.

Also present during the interview, president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello clarified that the work he has been doing since the beginning of his first term will continue. The youth teams will be integrated into the same work methodology developed by professionals from Flamengo's Center of Excellence in Performance (CEP FLA) and the football philosophy concepts that are ingrained in the club's DNA.

"Noval's appointment to the position does not, under any circumstances, represent a change in philosophy. Flamengo will continue with the same model of valuing the areas. Noval is part of this work that was led here in the professional team," said the president.

In addition to welcoming the new director, Bandeira de Mello thanked the former football department employees who are no longer with the team. Among them are director Rodrigo Caetano, coordinator Mozer, coach Paulo César Carpegiani, assistant coach Jayme de Almeida, and physical trainer Marcelo Martorelli.

The president praised Caetano. "He's an exceptional professional. I'm sure his continued career will bear much fruit," he praised. "I also couldn't help but thank the other professionals who left the club, such as Mozer, an idol of Flamengo and mine, who will be deeply missed not only for his work but also for his personal character; Jayme de Almeida, a great defender and excellent professional; and Martorelli, a fitness coach much loved by all of us and extremely competent, who I'm sure will have a great career from now on. Besides them, I'd also like to thank Paulo Carpegiani, an idol who was our coach at the World Cup, and assistant coach Rodrigo Carpegiani," he added.

Vice President of Football Ricardo Lomba praised Carlos Noval and also thanked Rodrigo Caetano for his services.

"A professional of the highest caliber. Very competent and beloved by all of us. I would like to pay tribute to all the people who have left the club, especially Rodrigo Caetano, a competent professional with whom I became friends. Noval will follow the same methodology, with which I am certain Flamengo will find its way to titles," he thanked.

In the morning, training will resume this Tuesday (03) at CT, aiming at the Rubro-Negro's debut in the Brazilian Championship. The match against Vitória will be played on April 14, with the ball rolling in Salvador from 19 pm.
