"Flamengo was a milestone in my life. There's no amount of money in the world that could buy me the shirt. I experienced the best moments of my career here."

In a press conference at the Rogério Steinberg Auditorium, captain Fábio Luciano confirmed his retirement. Yesterday's match against Botafogo at Maracanã was the 34-year-old's final victorious career. He intends to dedicate more time to his family.

"My wife lost a son three months into her pregnancy, at 10 a.m., and I only found out at midnight after a Libertadores game. I also didn't see my son born, which is the biggest frustration I have in life. He is the person I love most, along with Isabela (another daughter). In this wonderful moment, I reciprocate my family's affection and will be by their side. I am well prepared for this; I thought about my family. My wife has deprived herself of so many things, and the time has come to deprive herself of the thing I love most to give them special attention."

Quite emotional, Fábio Luciano said that he experienced the best moments of his career at Gávea.

"I'd like to thank everyone who shared Flamengo's daily life. I'm grateful to the fans. Many, many expressions of affection. Some things we keep in photos and images, and others only in our hearts. What they left in my heart, no fan base has left. Those were the most special moments. Maybe they weren't the most important titles, but they were special moments."

The now former player said that Flamengo was a milestone in his life and that few people in the world of football had the opportunity to wear the red-black jersey.

"Anyone who works at Flamengo is already blessed. I see the joy of Barata, Babão, Klebinho, the kit men... everyone who wears this jersey, whether on the field or off, deserves to be grateful. It's amazing. Flamengo was a milestone in my life. I'm not trading Flamengo for another club. I gave up a good salary. There's no amount of money in the world that could pay for wearing this jersey. Everything I've done here has been from the heart."
