One of the biggest revelations from Flamengo's youth academy in recent years, Bruno Mezenga is already a seasoned player despite his young age. At 21, the striker was a unanimous choice in the Flamengo youth academy. He won important titles, such as the Copa Cultura, the Copa Record, the Taça OPG, and the three-time Rio de Janeiro junior championship. He had a few opportunities as a professional, but didn't establish himself and ended up on loan. In 2007, he played for Fortaleza. The following year, he played for Macaé and then moved to Orduspor in Turkey, where he was the top scorer. Last season, he returned to Gávea to be part of the six-time Brazilian champion squad.

In seven matches played in 2009 and 12 in 2010, Mezenga scored four goals. One every three games, and of those 12, he started only eight. But midway through the year, the player was loaned out again, this time to Legia Warszawa in Poland. As a result, he was even left out of the squad for some of the final rounds of the Brasileirão. However, with the numerous absences, coach Rogério Lourenço spoke with the player and will include him for the match against Goiás.

"I was taken by surprise with the news that I could play tomorrow. I'm already in negotiations with a team in Poland, on loan, and Flamengo just needs to sign the documents, but I still have a contract with the club and I'm at the coach's disposal," said Mezenga.

Without hiding his happiness at wearing the red and black shirt again as a professional, Mezenga hopes that this farewell can be just a see you soon and dreams of a goal to close this first half of the year in the best possible way: helping Flamengo to victory.

"It's an important match, as it could be my farewell to Maracanã, and it could also be my last game at Maracanã for the next few years. I hope it's a great game and that, if I play, I can help the team come away with a victory. I'm happy to be back playing for Flamengo. This has always been my home, and any opportunity to wear this jersey is very important," he added.

First promoted in 2005, Mezenga has played 31 games for Flamengo, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
