The predestined goal
Luiz Henrique received a call before scoring the goal that qualified him for the final
By Francisco Freire - inYoung Luiz Henrique couldn't have had a better debut. A Flamengo fan through and through, he's played for Flamengo since the youth ranks and has the 17 U-2016 Rio de Janeiro title under his belt.
In 2018, he was called up to play in his first São Paulo Cup. And it didn't take long for him to score his first goal: in the second round, he found the back of the net against Aimoré-RS. In an exclusive chat with FlaTV, he said the goal was "predicted" by his niece.
"My first cup competition and I was able to score a goal. The day before, my niece called me and asked me to score a goal for her, so I went to celebrate with the camera," he said.
In the semifinal against Portuguesa-SP, he shone again. He scored a goal and provided an assist, playing a key role in the Mais Querido's reach the final. With his history with Flamengo, he demonstrated his understanding of Flamengo. Still in the group stage, he made his own prediction.
"Flamengo has to always go into the game thinking about winning. I think we can reach the final, taking one step at a time...", he said at the time.
At 19 years old, in addition to being a finalist, Luiz Henrique can say: he was destined to be a champion with Flamengo.
