Coaching changes are a normal occurrence in football and, like any decision, can have both positive and negative effects on a team. One advantage is that many players who weren't getting opportunities under the previous coach can dream of a place in the spotlight under a new manager. This is the phase some Flamengo players are going through.
In recent training sessions, Silas has been monitoring the performances of the reserves and those not selected for the clashes with Guarani and Cruzeiro to find out who he can count on for the rest of the season.
"Here, everything is Flamengo. We'll keep these players until the end of the year, except for those we release. But we should keep 90% of the group," said the coach, who knows that his arrival could give some athletes extra motivation.
"A player just by wearing the Flamengo shirt already has to be very motivated, but we know that it's clear that those who weren't being used much will get an extra boost with the arrival of a new coaching staff and we'll try to closely monitor the training sessions," he noted.
Young Galhardo, who played for a few minutes against Guarani and was included in the squad for the game against Cruzeiro, is one of the promising players from Flamengo's youth ranks and believes that the time is right to show his worth to the new "teacher".
"When a new coach arrives, who doesn't know much about our work, we have to show our worth so he knows he can count on us. Everyone here is looking for a place, the squad is strong, and I'm sure the opportunities will come at the right time," he added.
