The only remnant of the last confrontation
Vinícius Pacheco was on the field in 2005, when Flamengo drew with Ceará

On April 20, 2005, Flamengo played at Castelão and drew 1-1 with the home team. The result eliminated the Rubro-Negro from the Copa do Brasil. This was the last time the team from Gávea faced Ceará in an official match. Since then, many changes have occurred on both sides, but one player who played in that match is also in the squad for this Saturday's (August 14.08) match.
Midfielder Vinícius Pacheco, who has been loaned out to several clubs over the past five years, returned to Flamengo this season and is expected to be on the bench for the match. Vague memories of the 2005 match, where the red-and-black team was very different, remain in his mind.
"I remember little about that game. I remember that we ended up drawing and were left out of the Copa do Brasil. Obina scored. The team had Adrianinho, André Santos, Jônatas... A lot has changed since then. Flamengo won the Copa do Brasil the following year, was a three-time Carioca champion, Brazilian champion... I hope that now the story will be different," he said.
Versatile, Pacheco could be an option for coach Rogério Lourenço both in midfield, where the expectation is that Renato Abreu will not play throughout the match, as he is not yet at his ideal physical condition, and in attack, which will also have the debutant Leandro Amaral.
"My original position is midfield, but I can also play up front, and it only makes things easier for me to have players like Renato and Leandro on the team. It's a big responsibility to play with these players and also to substitute them if necessary, but if coach Rogério decides to put me in the game, I'll do my best to help Flamengo," he added.
