Obina and Tardelli compete for a spot in attack
Caio Júnior has not confirmed the attacking duo for the game against Grêmio.
By Flamengo Archive - inCoach Caio Júnior confirmed after this morning's training session at Gávea that striker Souza has little chance of facing Grêmio on Sunday. Obina is the favorite for the spot, but Diego Tardelli hasn't ruled out the starting lineup.
- "Souza is practically out and we're going to continue working. I tested Obina, that's my initial idea, even because they have the same characteristics, but I'm not ruling out Tardelli. I have two more training sessions to decide."
For the Flamengo manager, a victory over the Rio Grande do Sul team would be crucial to boost the team's morale. Furthermore, he would invite Flamengo fans to the next four games at Maracanã.
- "Although all games are important, this one against Grêmio specifically would be very important from a psychological point of view. It would be great to get a good result, because we have four consecutive home games after that and a victory in the South would encourage our fans to help us have a good start to the Brazilian Championship."
Caio Júnior believes Grêmio will put pressure on the Gávea team from the opening minutes. The coach demands his players' full attention.
- "Grêmio won their debut and playing away, they're a team that defends well, although I don't believe they'll play like they did against São Paulo. Since they'll be playing at home, they'll tend to go out more. We have to see what they do so we're not surprised."
