Obina looking forward to scoring
In search of his first goal in the 2009 season, the Flamengo striker says: “The important thing is that Flamengo is winning.”
By Flamengo Archive - inA favorite of the red-and-black fans, striker Obina has yet to find the net in the 2009 Rio de Janeiro State Championship. He has played four matches so far, and the number 18 has struggled against the opposing goalkeepers' fine performances. His next opportunity to score his first goal of the season will be tomorrow against Macaé at Raulino de Oliveira Stadium.
"I've been getting chances, but I can't explain what's happening. I've been shooting and positioning myself well, but the goalkeepers are catching them. I'm sure that when the first ball goes in, more opportunities and more goals will arise. I'm working hard to end this goal drought. There's no shortage of motivation."
Accustomed to shining in decisive moments, Obina hopes to once again make a difference in the Campeonato Carioca.
"When Flamengo needs me, God will shine a light on me. At the right time, I always show up and score my little goal. I hope I can score even more decisive goals this year. I haven't given up on being the top scorer in the Campeonato Carioca yet. Once the first one comes, I'm sure others will follow," said the confident striker.
