A player with a World Cup, a Copa América, a Confederations Cup, two Brazilian Championships, and a Premier League title under his belt can already beat his chest and paraphrase the Roman general and consul Julius Caesar, saying he came, saw, and conquered. But the experienced 30-year-old midfielder Kleberson wants more. His unprecedented Copa Libertadores title and his third consecutive Rio de Janeiro title are motivating him greatly for 2010 with Flamengo. With the national team, the opportunity to compete in another World Cup is his ultimate goal.

José Kleberson Pereira arrived at Flamengo in mid-2007, but was only able to play in 2008. As a result, he missed the Flamengo's run in the Brazilian Championship that year. He then won two state titles, in 2008 and 2009, and, enjoying a good run, was called up to the Brazilian national team by coach Dunga. However, he was injured again and also missed the run that led the Gávea team to its sixth championship last year. For this reason, the number 15 feels indebted to the fans and his teammates.

"At the end of last year, the team grew a lot, and unfortunately I ended up not being able to participate in the final stretch of the Brazilian Championship due to an injury. That's really bad. I really wanted to participate and couldn't, so I saved my energy for this year. I know I still have some downside, but I started well, with a goal, a good performance, and I want to work even harder to improve with each game," said Kleberson.

For this season, Kleberson's main goal is the same as that of all the Flamengo players and coaching staff: to fulfill the fans' dream of seeing Flamengo win the Copa Libertadores for the second time in its history. Confident, the player, who competed in the competition in 2008, believes the group has every chance of making even more history wearing the Flamengo jersey. All it takes is dedication.

"We have a very high-quality squad that can win the Libertadores. With a strong group in such an important competition, our dedication increases even more. Of course, this is our main goal, and I believe the team is ready for it. We just need to put in the work," he said.

Good results wearing the Flamengo shirt are important for the player not only in his career at the club, but also to convince coach Dunga that he still deserves a place in the group that will compete in the World Cup in South Africa, in 2010. The midfielder, who won the World Cup in 2002 in South Korea and Japan, hopes, perhaps, to win again the most important tournament in world football.

"Every player dreams of playing in a World Cup, and I don't think so. I'll do my best to get another opportunity with the Brazilian national team. My first goal, of course, is Flamengo, but I believe that if I do well here, I can earn a spot on the national team," he concluded.
