On the afternoon of this Friday (21.08), the red-black squad met at the George Helal Training Center for the first training session under the command of the new coach, Oswaldo de Oliveira.

The athletes began with a warm-up session, involving quick passes interspersed with stretching positions. Assistant coach Ricardo Henriques led the activity. The goalkeepers trained separately on field two with coach Wagner Miranda. Meanwhile, the players who participated in the match against Vasco last Wednesday (August 19.08) worked out in the gym.

Oswaldo then gathered the squad in the center of field one and spoke with the players. Those who participated in the 90 minutes against Vasco went to field two, where light technical training was conducted. On field one, the remaining players participated in an intense training session. With the ball being passed around from different parts of the field, both teams had to organize themselves quickly. The new manager shouted instructions at various points.

After training, each team went to a different half of the field. The players practiced movement and transition. In two touches, the ball would leave the defenders and pass to the defensive midfielders, full-backs, midfielders, and forwards. With intense passing, the teams were expected to finish.

Finally, the defenders participating in the activity practiced quick passing and turnarounds on one half of the field with their new assistant coach, Luiz Alberto. On the other half, Oswaldo led a training session where the players attacked in trios, only allowed to touch the ball once at a time. The coach demanded high intensity and speed, as well as frequent passing and positional changes.

The team will train this Saturday (August 22.08) before facing São Paulo. The match against the São Paulo team will take place on Sunday (August 23.08), at Maracanã, at 16 pm.
