After Flamengo's first defeat under his command, coach Oswaldo de Oliveira analyzed the match against Coritiba in a press conference at the Mané Garrincha stadium. According to the coach, the team failed to replicate on Thursday (September 17.09th) the good performances that led to the interrupted streak of six consecutive victories, due to a correct approach from the Paraná team.
Oswaldo also revealed that Peruvian striker Guerrero will join the delegation this Friday (September 18.09th), when the team trains at Brasiliense's training center, and will travel with the group to Minas Gerais on Saturday afternoon (September 19.09th). The player will still be evaluated before the match against Atlético-MG.
Check out the main excerpts from the press conference:
Game analysis
- Today we weren't able to do what we've been doing, and that's largely due to our opponent. Coritiba played very well, they knew how to exploit our team's weaknesses, given their approach. They marked our plays very effectively. An early goal took away some of our team's confidence, and we couldn't progress in the game, couldn't do what we usually do to score goals.
Interruption of the winning streak
- I think the team had been playing very well, putting on good performances, maintaining a progressive level, but we couldn't repeat that today. Flamengo's consecutive victories had been drawing attention, and of course, the next opponent was always preparing more to face the team's style of play.
Medical Department
Wallace and Sheik are not yet fit, they are recovering. Guerrero arrives tomorrow to train with us so we can assess his condition and properly evaluate how he is doing to know if we can use him.
