With 24 games in the starting lineup and 11 coming off the bench in 2010, midfielder Vinícius Pacheco knows well the differences between starting and coming on as a substitute. Like every player, obviously, he always hopes to start, but he guarantees that he will always do his best to honor Flamengo's colors, whether playing one minute or 90.
"Being a starter is every player's goal, but I'm not worried about that. What I try to do is work hard to do my best on the field and help the team whenever necessary," said the midfielder.
This season, Pacheco has already scored six goals and provided 10 assists, and in Friday's practice match (August 06.08th), he scored the winning goal for the reserve team against the starters, 1-0, at Gávea. Playing as a midfielder, his original position, he hopes to perform even better.
"I had been playing as a starter, but in attack. Now I'm fighting for a spot in my original position, which is midfield. Today I trained this way, I scored the goal, and I believe I can do my best for my team this way," observed the number 22, who emphasized the importance of returning from São Paulo with the three points.
"It's crucial to come back with a victory, and that's our goal. Corinthians is a strong team, we'll respect them, but we're capable of winning the three points," he concluded.
