Peruvian Paolo Guerrero is Flamengo's newest signing. The striker, a regular for the Peruvian national team, signed a three-year contract with Flamengo and will wear the Sacred Mantle after representing his country in the Copa América, which begins on June 11 in Chile.

A product of Alianza Lima's youth academy in Peru, Guerrero began his successful career at Bayern Munich in Germany, where he won the German Cup and the German Championship. Also in Germany, he played for Hamburg before moving to Corinthians. With the São Paulo club, he won the 2012 World Cup and was named the best striker in the Brazilian Championship in 2014.

"Guerrero's arrival is a great achievement for Flamengo. Wherever he's been, he's shown he's a natural goalscorer, and I'm sure that at Flamengo, wearing the Sacred Mantle, and with the support of the Red-Black Nation, it won't be any different. I wish our new striker every success," said president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, adding that the signing is fully in line with the club's principles of financial responsibility and has the support of important partners.

"The signing was made possible with the support of our sponsors, especially Caixa Econômica Federal and adidas. I take this important moment to ask that the red-and-black fans continue supporting us, joining the Fan Member Program and pushing the team in the stadiums. The success of Fan Member Program will allow Flamengo to become increasingly stronger", he concluded. Click here to make your membership.
