One of the most experienced players in Flamengo's squad, attacking midfielder Marcelinho Paraíba believes that the 3-0 loss to Atlético-MG in the penultimate round of the Brazilian Championship served as a lesson for all of Flamengo's players. The number 11 called for his teammates to remain fully focused so the team doesn't repeat those mistakes in Thursday's match against Coritiba at the Maracanã stadium.

"The advantage for Thursday's game is that we already have experience with what happened against Atlético-MG. We started a little complacent and were surprised. It served as a lesson for us to be focused from now on. Against Vasco, winning was crucial, given what had already happened against Atlético-MG. Now we'll try to play better too. If we have a great performance against Coritiba and convince the fans, it will be great. We have to dedicate ourselves even more because the results will come, and the fans will continue to support us."

For Marcelinho, the opponents' stance when facing Flamengo at Maracanã makes the work of the red-black attack very difficult.

"We're having a bit of a hard time playing at home because our opponents play very defensively, constantly defending. We know we haven't had great performances, but right now, winning matches is what matters. Results have been tough, but there's no shortage of dedication and determination on the field."

Marcelinho believes that anything can happen in the most balanced Brazilian Championship in the points-based era.

"We have eight games left, and anything can happen. The top five have a chance of winning the title. We'll do our part and see what happens. I'm happy to be part of this group that fights and never gives up. Flamengo has been chasing this title for a long time, and I hope I can help now."

Even with only 11 games for Flamengo, Marcelinho Paraíba feels fully adapted to the Club.

"I already feel like a Flamengo fan. I've been since I was a kid, actually. Playing here now makes me even happier. I get affection from the fans on the streets, and I hear criticism too, but I'm really enjoying this experience, and my family is loving Rio. Everything will be fine from now on."
