Paulo Sousa arrives in Rio de Janeiro and begins his career with Flamengo
Portuguese coach will visit the Ninho do Urubu facilities this Friday (7)

At around 6:35 am this Friday (7), Paulo Sousa landed in Rio de Janeiro to start his work at Flamengo. The new red-black coach's agenda includes a visit to Ninho do Urubu today to get to know the CT facilities. The 51-year-old Portuguese signed a contract with Mais Querido until December 2023.
Excited about the opportunity to manage “the biggest club in the world,” as he himself put it, Paulo Sousa gave FlaTV his first interview in Brazil.
"I'm very happy, very pleased. I've felt the affection of the fans all the way back in Portugal. I'm thrilled! I still haven't finished the book I received. I watched many games from last season, not just Flamengo's, but our opponents' as well. In a coaching career, these opportunities don't come along often. I've always lived Flamengo, even when I was a player. When you have the chance to represent a club of this magnitude, I'm very happy to be part of this project. I analyzed the squad. Individual quality isn't synonymous with victories; we'll have to work harder than the others to ensure that quality shines through. On Monday, the players need to have everything very well planned," said the coach.
Paulo Sousa's staff is made up of the following professionals: Manuel Cordeiro (assistant coach), Victor Sanchez (assistant coach), Paulo Grilo (goalkeeper coach), António Gomez (physical trainer), Cosimo Cappagli (analyst) and Lluis Sala (physical trainer).
Under the command of the new coach, Flamengo's professional squad will return next Monday (10), at Ninho do Urubu, to begin work aiming at the 2022 season.
