In the Libertadores, Flamengo beats Universidad Católica 3-2 and breaks the record in Chile

In the third round of the Libertadores group stage, Flamengo beat Universidad Católica 3-2 on Thursday night (28), at the San Carlos de Apoquindo stadium, in Chile. The goals of Mais Querido were scored by Gabi (twice) and Lázaro, who came on in the second half. With the result, Mengão continues with 100% success in the international competition, and in addition, achieved the first victory over the opponent in Chilean territory.
The game
Flamengo started the match looking to attack. Just one minute in, Arrascaeta took a shot from outside the box, but the goalkeeper calmly saved it. Just seven minutes in, Mengão took the lead! After stealing the ball in the attacking half, Bruno Henrique played a one-two with João Gomes and passed to Gabi, who fired a powerful shot to open the scoring: 0-1.
In the 15th minute, Universidad Católica leveled the score with an own goal from Isla, who challenged Zampedri inside the box and ended up sending the ball into his own net: 1-1. After conceding the equalizer, the red-and-black team remained undeterred and continued to work the ball forward. In the 22nd minute, Thiago Maia reached the byline and crossed low to Arrascaeta, who fired a first-time shot over the goal.
The Mais Querido, the best player in the match, scored the second goal in the 34th minute. Arrascaeta turned on the marking and made a beautiful pass to Bruno Henrique, who crossed perfectly for Gabi to score his second of the game: 1-2.
Mengão then missed out on a third goal due to a narrow margin. Arrascaeta once again found Gabi with a beautiful pass; the striker beat the goalkeeper, but the ball went wide. Flamengo ended the first half with the lead.
After the break, Flamengo was trying to slow the pace of the match, after the Chileans' initial pressure in the opening minutes of the second half. In the 15th minute, Bruno Henrique burst down the left and attempted a shot. The ball fell to Gabi, who struck hard, but the ball just went wide.
In the final stretch, Católica pushed forward and pressured the red-and-black team, which managed to defend. In the 39th minute, Mengão extended the lead in Chile! Pedro pressured Galani's ball out, Marinho stole it and passed it to Lázaro, who unleashed a powerful shot and scored the third goal for the red-and-black team: 1-3.
In stoppage time, Católica scored with Buonanotte in the 48th minute: 2-3. The Most Beloved won for the first time against Universidad Católica in Chile.

Rubro-Negro returns to the field next Sunday (1) to face Altos, at 18 pm, at the Albertão stadium, in Piauí. The game is valid for the third phase of the Copa do Brasil.
