A victory. That's the red-and-black squad's focus to escape the uncomfortable position it finds itself in in the Brazilian Championship. The current champion, Flamengo, knows it has what it takes to climb the table, all it needs is a positive result. And let it be this Saturday (September 11.09th), against Vitória, at 18:30 pm, at Raulino de Oliveira Stadium, in Volta Redonda.
Flamengo currently sits 16th in the standings with 22 points, four points above the relegation zone. But that's not going to make the squad look downcast when they take the field in the upcoming matches.
"There are four points separating us from the relegation zone. We know that, but we can't dwell on it. We have to do our part and overcome this difficult time. If we win this Saturday, it will change everything. The atmosphere will be better for working. We've played well in the last few games and haven't won. And in our situation, it's not important to play well, but to win," said Deivid.
Just like the striker, coach Silas recently arrived at Flamengo, but he has also realized the same thing: the red-black team is missing the kick-off to react in the Brasileirão.
"I prefer to work on the positives. We're not playing badly. The result isn't happening. We're missing a win. When that happens, everything improves. Those who are here, representing Flamengo, know the greatness of the club and know how to respect the jersey. We know how difficult it is to be in this situation, and we will continue to take the championship, which is very balanced, very seriously," said Silas.
Regarding the attack he will field against Vitória, the red-and-black coach didn't reveal who will be alongside Deivid. Val Baiano is one of the options, even with the striker having a run of bad luck.
"The important thing is for the fans to realize that he (Val Baiano) is here to help the team. It's time to show him affection, which Val will undoubtedly reciprocate. Preferably with goals," concluded Silas.
