The youth futsal teams of the red-black team took to the court last weekend to play the first games of the quarter-finals of the 2008 State Championship.

The U-09 and U-11 teams faced Helênico and won both matches 9-1 and 4-3, respectively. The U-13 teams faced Mangueira and drew 2-2. The three age groups will play the second leg of the quarterfinals in Gávea next Sunday.

The U-15 team hosted Vasco da Gama in the first quarterfinal match and ended up losing 3-1. Now, the team from Gávea must win the second leg in regulation time to take it to extra time, where they also must win. The next match is Saturday at Vasco Barra.

Victory for the under-17 category, who faced Madureira, in an away game, and won the match 4-3. With the result, the red-black team must play for a draw in normal time, which will be in Gávea, next Saturday.

The youth team secured its place in the State final of the category, after beating the Cabo Frio team 4-3. The next game, against Iguaçu, will be just to fulfill the schedule, since both teams are the finalists of the competition.
