Even at 38, Petkovic remains a key player for Flamengo. A quality midfielder who creates plays and is decisive in set pieces, the midfielder helped Flamengo secure another victory this Saturday (August 14.08) against Ceará at the Maracanã stadium.

Happy with the result, the player acknowledges that Flamengo didn't play a great game, but believes the important thing is that the team managed to leave the field with three more points. After all, Flamengo hadn't scored in three games and hadn't won in four.

"We deserved to beat Avaí, but we drew. Against Internacional, a draw would have been fairer, but we lost. So, the important thing was to have beaten Ceará," he said.

Coach Rogério Lourenço, in turn, heaped praise on the player. According to him, Pet can still be a significant help to Flamengo throughout the season.

"Pet, first and foremost, is an idol and is incredibly important to the group. He has a temperament that many might not understand, but he's very intelligent and loved by everyone in the squad. Of course, he won't perform as well as a 25-year-old, and that has to be taken into consideration. But he's a quality player who can still help Flamengo a lot," he added.

Next Sunday (22.08), Flamengo returns to the field to face Atlético Paranaense, in Curitiba.
