Petkovic's form couldn't have been better. After conquering Brazil while wearing the Flamengo jersey, the foreigner returned to his homeland, Serbia, where the tributes continue. After establishing his place on the Walk of Fame at Rio's Maracanã Stadium, the foreigner was applauded by fans of the club where Petkovic first emerged, Red Star, during halftime of the match between the home team and Spartak Zlatibor Voda at the Marakana Stadium, named in honor of the Greatest in the World.

Known as "Rambo" in his homeland, the red-and-black star has already declared 2009 to be the best year of his career. A Brazilian champion, he received numerous honors in Rio and now also receives well-deserved recognition at home. The star wore the Red Star jersey in 1992, signed from modest Radnički Niš, and did not disappoint.

Considered the greatest revelation in European football at the time, he excelled so much with his new team that he later ended up at Real Madrid. In total, he played 140 official matches for Red Star, scoring 39 goals. Wearing the team's number 10, he won the Yugoslav Cup in 1993, 1995, and 1996, and the national championship in 1995. At Marakana, Pet made 55 appearances and scored 17 goals.

The Belgrade club's official website also took the opportunity to pay tribute to Pet after Saturday's visit. "Finally, Rambo is back home," the page reads, congratulating Flamengo on their Brazilian title and thanking the player for the good times he had with Red Star: "Thank you, Rambo, for everyone."
