Pet wants to return the fans' affection

Serbian says he's not worried about being a starter and just wants to help Flamengo

Back in Flamengo's starting lineup, Petkovic maintained his usual style after training on Monday (22.03), in Gávea. The Serbian gave a press conference after the activities, did not get involved in any controversy and showed great desire to continue helping the red-black team this season.

At 37, Pet claims to be in peak physical shape. The foreigner didn't lack match fitness in the match against Botafogo and is expected to start against Tigres as well.

"Physically, I'm fine, without any problems. The pace of the game affects my physical condition a little, more than my technique, but I was calm. I wasn't tired and I believe I'm 100%," he said.

Whether he's a starter or a reserve, Petkovic only cares about helping. The midfielder has no preference for teammates. Quite the opposite. He praises all his teammates and the strength of the Red-and-Black squad.

"I'll try to help Flamengo, as I've always tried to do. I'm not thinking about fighting for a starting spot. I just want to be as good as possible on the pitch. I didn't play much with Vinícius, and what's important is what Andrade thinks. The squad is strong, and whoever comes in can do well," he said.

Petkovic assured that his motivation comes from within, and that he remains with the same goal as last year: to do his best for the Rubro-Negro. Especially in return for the constant support he receives from the fans.

"I know the fans are very fond of me. They've always supported me and I want to do my best to repay that support," he concluded.
